ZLB Vertical Axial Flow Pumps

The ZLB series is a single-stage, vertical axial flow pump designed for efficient handling of clean water, sewage, rainwater, and mildly corrosive liquids with temperatures up to 50°C. Renowned for its high flow rate and low head characteristics, it serves a wide array of applications across multiple industries, including agricultural irrigation and drainage, municipal water supply and wastewater treatment, industrial cooling and water circulation, hydroelectric projects, and shipyard water level control.

Performance Characteristics of ZLB Vertical Axial Flow Pumps

  • The Q-H (Flow-Head) curve is steep; head increases sharply as flow decreases.

  • The Q-P (Flow-Power) curve shows power decreases with reduced flow. Therefore, the pump must be started with the discharge valve fully open.

  • The Q-η (Flow-Efficiency) curve is steeply peaked, meaning high efficiency is maintained only within a narrow range around the best efficiency point (BEP). Flow regulation via valve throttling is inefficient; adjusting blade angle is the preferred method.

  • Required NPSH is relatively high, limiting the allowable suction lift. Careful consideration of inlet conditions is necessary.

Key Features & Advantages of ZLB Vertical Axial Flow Pumps

Wide Model Range & Superior Hydraulic Performance: The series offers a comprehensive and well-distributed spectrum of models and specifications, ensuring an optimal pump selection for various operational conditions. It features excellent hydraulic design for high operational efficiency.

Adaptable Structural Configurations:

Key Features & Advantages of ZLB Vertical Axial Flow Pumps

  • Traditional Type: Ideal for conventional hydraulic engineering designs and the renovation of older pumping stations.

  • Shaftless Type: This innovative design eliminates the long drive shaft. It allows for a single-foundation installation, significantly reducing civil construction costs for the pump station. It also simplifies installation and maintenance, saving time, labor, and cost compared to the traditional dual-foundation (separate motor and pump floor) setup.

  • Robust Construction & Reliable Operation: The pump is coupled with standard, general-purpose electric motors (available in low and high voltage). This eliminates the risks associated with submersible motors, offering enhanced safety, reliability, and easier maintenance.

  • Semi-Adjustable Blades: The impeller blades are semi-adjustable. By loosening the fastening screws, the blade angle can be altered to change the pump's performance characteristics, allowing operational adjustments to match specific requirements.

  • Efficient Transmission Options: Supports direct drive via coupling or V-belt drive, providing flexibility for different power transmission needs and site layouts.

  • Structural Design

  • The ZLB pump comprises a pump body section and a transmission section.

  • Pump Body: Includes the suction bell, impeller assembly (with blades, hub, and locknut), guide vanes, elbow/discharge pipe, rubber guide bearings, pump shaft, and a packed gland seal for shaft sealing.

  • Materials: Key components are manufactured from durable materials, including a carbon steel pump shaft (often chrome-plated at bearings for wear resistance), and cast steel or stainless steel impellers. Other parts are typically cast iron or steel plate welding.

  • Lubrication & Rotation: The upper rubber guide bearing requires external clean water lubrication during start-up until the pump is operational. Viewed from the coupling end, the impeller rotation is clockwise.
